If you were lucky enough to be at Electric Brixton for Tarrus Riley‘s concert, you’ll know it was one of those nights that reminded you why live reggae is so special. From the moment he walked on stage, the energy in the room was incredible. Backed by the outstanding Dean Fraser and the Blak Soil band, Tarrus delivered hit after hit with effortless vocals that sounded every bit as good live as they do on record.
The crowd sang along to favourites like She’s Royal, Stay With You and Gimme Likkle One Drop, creating an atmosphere that felt more like a big family gathering than a concert. Speaking of family, much to the crowds delight, likkle Miss, his young daughter joined him to sing Human Nature. Tarrus shared heartfelt messages about love, unity and staying positive, making the night feel uplifting as well as entertaining.
The UK support acts, Christopher Ellis and Grantie Asher, were also quality. Christopher treated us with his own tracks as well as an amazing medley from his late legendary father, Alton Ellis. Grantie Asher opened the night by getting everyone in the mood – together they were perfect for what turned out to be an unforgettable show.
Electric Brixton was the ideal venue, close enough to make every performance feel personal while still buzzing with excitement. Whether you were dancing, singing at the top of your lungs or simply soaking it all in, there wasn’t a dull moment.
Tarrus Riley didn’t just put on a concert—he gave us an evening full of good vibes, great music and memories that will stay with everyone who was there for a long time.
