Jamaica Love returns to Fairfield Halls – this time, the Lions are telling the story.

After a string of sold-out performances and standing ovations, the hit production Jamaica Love is back at Fairfield Halls this November – bringing the heart and soul of Jamaica to Croydon.

Written and directed by Mervyn Weir and nominated for Best Musical Production at the Black British Theatre Awards, Jamaica Love blends uplifting storytelling with Jamaica’s world-famous music – from ska and rocksteady to reggae. The show features the legendary John McLean performing his classic hits, the soulful harmonies of Celia Wickham-Anderson (Black Voices), and a powerhouse live band that will have you moving in your seat.

Wickham-Anderson, celebrated for her work with Black Voices, and writer-director Mervyn Weir, have been recognised for their outstanding contributions to this
powerful show, which celebrates the anniversary of the Windrush by showcasing Jamaica’s culture, music, and identity.

As Mervyn Weir says, “The lions are telling the story this time. For too long, the story of Jamaica and Jamaicans has been told through other people’s eyes. This production puts the narrative back where it belongs – told by Jamaicans, in our own words, with our own music, culture, and perspective.”

Audiences are also invited to arrive early for a rare pre-show experience: an exclusive art exhibition by Mervyn Weir. Known primarily for his theatre work, Weir’s art is an extension of his storytelling — vivid, layered, and deeply rooted in Jamaican history and identity. This is a unique chance to see the director’s vision brought to life on canvas before it comes alive on stage.

Although Jamaica’s Independence falls in August, the spirit lasts all year — and to mark the occasion, we’re offering £5 off tickets throughout August. Jamaica Love is an authentic celebration of resilience, identity, and the enduring connection between Jamaica and Britain, told with pride and passion by the people who live it.
