This is the last time Malik will perform Goner in London, so if you’ve not seen it yet, you have 6 chances.

Goner is a live, sensuous and suspenseful choreography that delves into the depths of psychological horror to explore alienation, migration, violence and more.

Goner raises the question: How do we look at culturally specific narratives against a backdrop of thrilling, gory horror?

Who knows… but there will be blood.

‘Who would have thought that dance, horror, culture and crimson cowboy chaps could come together in such a nuanced offering?’ Dance Art Journal

‘Powerfully blends movement and vulnerability, reflecting the viewer’s gaze back onto themselves’ Frieze

About the artist
Marikiscrycrycry is the moniker of Malik Nashad Sharpe: choreographer, lecturer, supreme booty shaker. Originally from New York, Malik is now London based, and Goner directly references the nightlife of South London. Goner also explores the artist’s relationship with Caribbean dance as a member of the diaspora, and dance forms from the archipelago such as ‘Daggering’ and ‘Whining’ feature in the show.

When speaking about the creation of Goner, he said:
‘I’ve become interested in the person who’s doomed, the person who’s about to turn into a zombie and leave their life, gets viciously mauled by a monster or goes into the creepy house on the hill and never comes back.’
