Hip-Hop theatre to the beat of 12 bullets
Inspired by the shocking true story of 19-year-old black woman Tyisha Miller, who was shot dead by four police officers while she lay unconscious in a car, this electrifying fusion of beatboxing, spoken word and hip-hop dance contrasts the violence of her death with lyrical remembrance of her life.
As each of the twelve bullet wounds that killed her is described, Tyisha’s life bursts onto stage in vivid detail – from the joy of dancing and softball to first kisses and hair styling.
This highly acclaimed, clear-eyed look at the relationship between race, the body and violence got rave reviews at the Edinburgh Festival, won an Edinburgh Festival Fringe Theatre Award, was one of The Scotsman’s Top 5 Shows, transferred to great acclaim in New York and now returns to London. But hurry – it’s only here for 2 weeks!
