For his first showcase at Sadler’s Wells East, Carlos Acosta presents the latest graduates from his Cuban Dance Academy in Next Generation, a programme full of energy, technical skill, and Cuban passion.

In Fuga, choreographer Susana Pous addresses the tragedy that the constant migration of its people represents for a country like Cuba, confining her dancers to a small area of the stage, from which a story about failed struggles, unfinished stories, pain, and empty spaces develops.

Mundo Interpretado (Interpreted World), by Juliano Nunes, features an installation by Cuban visual artist Glenda León, which sees the stage decorated with dozens of water lilies, creating a delicate and striking effect on the stage.

Kit Holder takes inspiration from one of René Magritte’s most famous series of paintings ‘The Lovers’ in Capriccio, while Dutch choreographer Didy Veldman creates new work for the company.
