Boots

Bunker Theatre

Set in a village pharmacy, Boots is an emotive, passionate and edgy two woman play.

Willow (Tanya Loretta Dee) and Liz (Amanda Boxer) are women from different generations, very different backgrounds and yet they find common ground.

Through their love of trees they find a safe space which brings them together and allows them to open up about the secrets that they have hidden from the world. Boots is a reminder that there is often a commonality that binds us together and the play does an exceptional job of highlighting how inter-generational friendships can bring comfort and heal pain.

The generation gap represents how women have sometimes reinforced the negative stereotypes and unrealistic expectations of society even without meaning to. By allowing each other the space and time to find ourselves together in those quiet moments, the solitary moments we bond over shared truths.

The Bunker Theatre is an intimate space but that is why this play works so well, giving the audience an up close and personal perspective to the pay and anxiety of the women at the centre of the production. Both actresses were brilliant with Dee providing an energetic and enthusiastic performance and Boxer giving a sharp and very witty performance that drew the audience in so well.
