Gig: Q-Tip
Gilles Peterson presents the first in his 2009 series of Worldwide 10 events
to celebrate 10 years of his groundbreaking Radio 1 show. Q-Tip is the man
who first came to public attention with the seminal Tribe Called Quest and
has since released 3 solo albums and worked with J-Dilla, Erykah Badu, the
Chemical Brothers and even Mariah Carey and Whitney Houston. This is his
first UK live show for 10 years and is hot on the heels of the release of
his new album 'The Renaissance', widely reckoned to be his best solo album
yet.
Gilles invited him to play at the first of his WW10 events as a result
of Q-Tip winning the Single of the Year at the recent Worldwide Awards.
