The Brothers Size
A Young Vic/ATC co-production

The Young Vic and ATC’s Olivier nominated, sell out production of The Brothers Size returns to the Maria, whilst the first play in Tarell Alvin McCraney’s remarkable trilogy makes its European debut in the Main House. There are two brothers Size.

There is Ogun Size who owns an auto-repair shop, and Oshoosi Size fresh out of prison, who always takes the wrong track. When his ex-cell mate Elegba gives him a clapped out car, true freedom seems just around the corner. Rooted in the rich traditions of West Africa and the American Deep South, Bijan Sheibani’s production underscores the poetry of McCraney’s rhapsodic drama with live percussion, song and dance.

The Brothers Size is a tale of extraordinary beauty, lyricism and humanity which explores the bonds of brotherhood. The Brothers Size returns to the Young Vic as part of a second tour which started at the Grec Festival in Barcelona and takes in dates in Oxford, Edinburgh, Scarborough, Manchester and Birmingham.

Cast: includes Daniel Francis (Comedy of Errors and Twelfth Night, RSC), Tunji Kasim (Big White Fog, Almeida and The Cracks in My Skin, Manchester Royal Exchange Studio) and Anthony Welsh who makes his professional debut. Bijan Sheibani is the Artistic Director of ATC. Bijan's production of Gone Too Far! won the 2008 Olivier Award for Outstanding Achievement in an Affiliate Theatre and recently returned to the Royal Court. The Brothers Size will be directed by Bijan Sheibani with design by Patrick Burnier, light by Mike Gunning, choreography by Aline David and live sound by Manuel Pinheiro.
