The Music of My Dream by Katie Abott The Music of My Dream by Katie Abott

‘The Music of my Dream’ is a 20 minute play for a young cast of mixed cultures and ages.

Violet is a young African-Caribbean girl who loves to dance; her brother Leo loves to play the guitar. Their great-grandparents travelled to Britain in 1948 aboard the Empire Windrush, a ship provided by the British Government to Commonwealth citizens of Jamaica, inviting new residents to the United Kingdom to assist after the Second World War. Through two further generations Violet and Leo are now fully integrated into British life and all it has to offer...they love their home, but early one morning, Violet hears the strains of her great-grandfather’s music deep within her soul, a melody which leads us to the story behind her dream.
