BECA Statement.
Dated 12th February 2009
This statement was agreed and approved by the BECA Steering Committee

On the 16th November 2008 Tharmm Equest Limited the founding company of the BECA awards decided  to cancel the event.

In order to achieve longevity for this prestigeous event, it was then decided that a steering committee of recognised members from the UK Comedy Industry would come together and decide the future direction of the BECA Awards.

The Steering Committee with great regret and in the best interest of the BECA Awards, Nominees and Public have decided to re-schedule the Awards from 1st March 2009 for a later date in the year.

The Steering Committee felt that in order to raise the profile of the BECA Awards far more strategic planning was required. The committee felt that the BECA Awards should and can be a much bigger, better and mainstream celebration on par with the likes of other Award ceremonies.

We look forward to everyone's full co-operation for the benefit of the black comedy industry and will keep you up-to-date with all new developments.

Yours sincerely,
BECA Steering Committee
