A benefit in aid of the DEC Haiti Earthquake Appeal, featuring writers’ responses to the disaster – and the culture, politics and people of Haiti.
Writers contributing to the event include Richard Bean, Juliet Gilkes Romero, Joel Horwood, Anders Lustgarten, Ed Pilkington, Atiha Sen Gupta, Steve Waters and Roy Williams (more to be confirmed), presenting immediate response poems, readings and short plays.
There will also be a panel discussion with Alex von Tunzelmann (historian and author of forthcoming book on Hispaniola and Cuba) and Jean-Marc Flambert (a Haitian resident in London, who was also the UK and Ireland director of Sri Lankan Tourism when the tsunami hit Sri Lanka), and chaired by Juliet Gilkes Romero (playwright and BBC World Service journalist).
