Thinking of writing a play? Planning to enter the Bruntwood Prize, Britain's biggest playwriting competition? Then come and join award-winning playwrights David Eldridge, Rebecca Lenkiewicz and Roy Williams and Josie Rourke, Artistic Director of the new writing powerhouse, the Bush Theatre, to discuss what makes a great play and to get some advice about developing your work.

Chaired by The Times' theatre critic, Libby Purves, the evening will offer practical insights into playwriting.

The Bruntwood Prize for Playwriting is the search for great new plays and great writers. A joint venture between Manchester-based property company Bruntwood and the Royal Exchange Theatre, the prize is a unique engine for the discovery and promotion of new writing talent for theatre.

Launched in 2005, and now in its third cycle, the Bruntwood Prize is the biggest national competition of its kind. Six full productions, nine prize winners and well over 3000 entries have been generated by the prize and over £80,000 in prize money has been awarded to date.

The 2011 competition opened for entries on 31 January 2011 and will close on 6th June. This year's judging panel is chaired by award winning playwright Simon Stephens. The judges are completed by the writer Jackie Kay; actor Sue Johnston; actor Maxine Peake; Royal Exchange Joint Artistic Director Sarah Frankcom and Chairman of Bruntwood Michael Oglesby.

The winner of the 2011 prize will receive £16,000, the largest single award to date, and there will also be three Judges' Awards of £8,000 each. All four award winners will have the chance to develop their play with the Royal Exchange, with a view to production. In addition, leading theatre publishers Nick Hern Books will publish all winning plays that receive a production at the Exchange.
