Chair of the selection committee Anton Phillips says “as always it’s a great pleasure to read the plays submitted to the Alfred Fagon Award. This year we received a record number of entries – 58, which is apt in our 18th anniversary year as it demonstrates the continued relevance and importance of the award for black British playwrights of Caribbean and African descent.”

This years’ presentation ceremony will take place at The Dorfman, National Theatre on Thursday 20th November at 1.30pm.

The Award for Best New Play of the Year will be presented to the winning writer by Reverend Rose Hudson-Wilkin, Speaker’s Chaplain, House of Commons and Priest Vicar at Westminster Abbey.
