Tickets are now on sale for two shows in the Clare studio this autumn: Creditors by August Strindberg in a version by David Greig, directed by Genesis Future Directors Award winner Rikki Henry (9 - 19 September) and Barbarians by Barrie Keeffe, directed by JMK Award winner Liz Stevenson (27 November - 19 December).
Director and playwright Gbolahan Obisesan will be the new Genesis Fellow.
Acclaimed dance company BirdGang join the Young Vic as an Associate Company.
Artistic Director David Lan commented on today’s announcements:
“The Genesis Future Directors and JMK Awards have long provided platforms for brilliant young directors. Now they will do so for Rikki Henry and Liz Stevenson. We’re delighted to support them in creating their interpretations of two great plays: Creditors and Barbarians.
We’re equally excited to welcome two new creative voices to our home on The Cut: Gbolahan Obisesan and BirdGang.
We’re looking forward to working closely with Gbolahan who began his relationship with us when he directed Sus in 2009, followed by his plays Mad About the Boy and Feast. I am confident that, as writer and director, he will bring fresh ideas and new energy, as well as helping other younger artists find their voice. We’re thrilled that for the first time we have a dance company as an associate company living and working with us in our theatre. To be part of the evolution of BirdGang’s ambitious and dynamic work in the theatre will be a big adventure.”
