On August the 6th 2012 Jamaica celebrates 50 years of Independence. JA Story the history of Jamaica Musical is touring the county bringing a hitherto unknown side and face of Jamaica. Her Excellency Aloun Ndombel-Assamba the High Commissioner of Jamaica to the UK attended the show at Stratford Circus and was generous enough to announce on stage how much she had enjoyed the show and hoped that the audience had also learnt a lot about Jamaica. She said the show had made the history and story of Jamaica very accessible and it was communicated in the most positive and accessible way. She strongly recommended, that young people should see the production for its educative value. .She also praised Count Prince and the cast’s performance.
Count Prince Miller also received the very first JA Story Cultural Laureate Award for his many years of service to the field of Culture, Arts and Music in Jamaica and internationally. George Ruddock Editor of the Voice and Gleaner presented the award to rapturous applause. ‘He said that Prince Miller had achieved many things in his artistic life. Fifty years ago he sang at the Celebrations of Independence in Jamaica in the presence of Princess Margaret , he appeared in the first Bond film Dr. No the same year, and he was also Bob Marley’s favorite MC when the King of Reggae toured the world.’
