We've teamed up with Penguin to offer you the chance to win a copy of Jerusalem
The literary and urban worlds have collided, as acclaimed author Patrick Neate collaborates with an award-winning rapper Sway to bring one of the novel’s key characters, MC ‘Nobody’, to life.
The book Jerusalem is an intricately woven tale of Englishness from many perspectives – young and old, black and white, urban and rural, British and African, past and present. Unfailingly relevant and politically astute, it is also a moving and witty take on contemporary identity that follows many of the themes of Neate’s previous work. Indeed, several of the characters from Musungu Jim and the Whitbread winner, Twelve Bar Blues, reappear in Jerusalem.
The track Jerusalem is currently getting airplay on several urban radio stations. Borrowing from William Blake’s iconic poem, the satirical song is a poke at contemporary British life, set against a funky electro melody and an infectious bassline.
The hilarious video that accompanies the track sees Nobody and crew kidnap The Queen and take her on a tour of the real British way of life. Viewers follow Nobody (and Liz) on a tour of the chip shop, Somerfield and local pub.

I have contempt for people who can read perfectly well but need pictures like a toddler needs its saliva-soaked comforter to keep their attention. But it seems the visual and not the literal is mightier than the sword these days.
