The Illusions of Liberty post-show q&a

‘Illusions of Liberty’ is back for another run at the King’s Head Theatre as part of their on- demand ‘Plays on Film’ season. If you didn’t get a chance to see it in February or you want to see it again, here’s your chance.

“A bold, important one-woman show that shines the light on a subject rarely tackled on stage. Corinne Walker’s performance is phenomenal” Afridiziak Theatre

Since February this one-woman comedy-drama has been nominated for an ONCOMM online award for off West End shows and has had a great response from audience and critics alike.

‘Illusions of Liberty’ is a semi-autobiographical play about four days in the life of ‘Liberty Jones’, a professional cellist who received some news about an invisible illness that changes her life forever.  As she tries to navigate her new normal, she encounters challenges on many fronts.  How does she navigate her new’ normal’? How many new ‘normals ‘will she have to navigate in four days?

Backed by live music – this poignant, informative comedy-drama allows us to really ‘see’ what is often hidden and meet some interesting characters along the way.

Walker plays all the roles with aplomb” Breaking The Fourth Wall

Walker’s performance is fresh insightful and funny. Wells has created a character whose charm keeps us focused and engaged. The cello played -symbolic of Liberty’s pre-illness life is played beautifully by Meera Priyanka Raja.” The Review Hub

The play is a journey of a Black woman living in a biased society with a chronic illness and the feelings associated”… “Illusions of Liberty” is informative, transparent, and resonating for many who can relate or who know of someone who can… as well as what strength, courage and perseverance, and freedom truly looks like beyond the surface” Get The Chance
