Femi and The InRhythms
Femi and The InRhythms

Femi Sofela leads his 11-piece band in an epic night of afrofunk and afrobeat

Hailing from Lagos, Nigeria, Femi and The InRhythms mix the cerebral musicality of afrobeat with the visceral grooves of funk, underpinned with Yoruba-English vocal styles, to create an eclectic, futuristic world dance music.

This key band from the contemporary African music scene was formed by bassist, singer and composer Femi Sofela to put the heavy afrobeat into funk and jazz, music with which he built his reputation as a musician and producer. Be among the first to hear new music from their debut CD/LP Pressure To Pleasure, released this year on Joyful Noise Records.

“classic afrobeats with a few surprises” (Nigel Williamson, Songlines)
“phenomenal harmonies, rhythm, and arrangements” (Adolf Alzuphar, Rhythm Passport)
“music that can fill the dance floor” (Kevin Le Grande, Echoes Magazine)
